Filing for Freedom | Taxpayers
To give back to those that sacrifice so much for us, Filing for Freedom, in partnership with numerous state CPA associations, numerous bar associations, and the American Bar Association, provides free, compliant tax preparation services to military families and first responders.
Filing for Freedom’s certified volunteer tax preparers, made up of CPAs, Attorneys, and other tax professionals, provide the following services:
- Tax return preparation
- Tax return checklist
- Assistance in filing your tax return
Whether you are a Military Member or a First Responder, the Filing for Freedom service works the same way. It is designed to be easy to understand and follow step by step.
Military must be Active or Reserve, grade E8 or below, deployers and eligible family members. Military ID required.

Register with Filing for Freedom.
Secure portal access and upload your tax related documents.
Get pared with a member of our volunteer team.
We will review, ask questions, prepare, and provide an e-sign.
Preparer has documents you uploaded
- Discusses documents with you
- Asks/answers questions
- Prepare and provide an e-sign
Greeter greets you
- Reviews your documents for completeness
- Directs you to your preparer
- Reviewer checks your prepared tax return
